matrix

Matrix” is a term that refers to the 1999 film, “The Matrix”, in which “reality” is created for its people.

Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere, it is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, or when you go to church or when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

Neo: What truth?

Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born inside a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind. Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.

As we emerged out of denial about having been slaves, we began to see the existence of a political-economic-sociocultural matrix of control. However, we remained in metanoia believing in its benevolence. As members of Slaves Anonymous, we explore how the slave masters and their proxies have conspired to create this system that manipulates, sickens, imprisons and kills.

Understanding how and why we were conned helps us be less naive and less likely to be harmed in the future. We begin to disengage from the matrix and create our own realities in which self-ownership can thrive. And we work to create the conditions necessary for the creation of emancipation in our local communities.
